Terms of Use

Welcome to Servo – NZ Fuel Prices (“the App”). By downloading, accessing, or using the App, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use (“Terms”). If you do not agree, please do not use the App.
1. About Servo
Servo is a free mobile application that displays petrol stations and recent fuel-price observations across New Zealand. Displayed prices are community-contributed structured observations, including direct Servo submissions and authorized community imports.
2. Eligibility
The App is rated 4+ on the App Store and is available for general use. Account creation is available to all users.
3. User Accounts
- You may create an account using email, Apple Sign In, or Google Sign In.
- Before creating an account, you must actively confirm that you have read and agree to these Terms and the Privacy Policy. Servo records the accepted document version and acceptance time as account metadata.
- You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials.
- You may delete your account at any time from the App by opening Profile → About Servo → Account → Delete Account. You may also contact us if you need deletion support. Account details, preferences, confirmations, reports submitted by the account, and original fuel-price observations submitted by the account are deleted.
4. User-Submitted Content (UGC)
4.1 Price Submissions
- You may submit fuel prices to help keep information current.
- By submitting a fuel-price observation, you grant Servo a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide licence to use, display, and distribute that observation within the App while it remains in Servo. The original observation is deleted if you delete your account.
4.2 Content Standards
When submitting prices, you agree to:
- Submit only accurate, genuine fuel prices that you have personally observed.
- Not submit false, misleading, or fabricated prices.
- Not submit content that is offensive, harmful, or violates any law.
4.3 Moderation
- A submitted price may become visible after server-side format, range, account, and rate-limit checks. Appearance in the App does not mean Servo has independently verified it.
- Signed-in users can report a specific displayed price or a station-data problem from the station page. The reporter can track the safe outcome in Profile → My Reports.
- Reports are reviewed through a restricted moderation queue. Servo may hide or restore a price, correct or close a station record, request more information, or take no action.
- Servo may warn or restrict accounts that repeatedly submit false prices or abusive reports. Serious or repeated abuse may result in account suspension or termination.
- Reporter notes, contributor identity, reviewer identity, and internal moderation notes are not shown publicly.
5. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Use the App for any unlawful purpose
- Attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or extract source code from the App
- Interfere with or disrupt the App’s infrastructure
- Use automated systems (bots, scrapers) to access the App
- Impersonate another person or entity
- Submit false or misleading information
6. Disclaimer of Warranties
THE APP IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED.
- Fuel prices displayed in the App are indicative only and may not reflect current actual prices. Prices may be outdated, incorrect, or incomplete.
- Station information (locations, operating hours, services) is provided for informational purposes and may contain inaccuracies.
- We do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or timeliness of any information in the App.
- Always verify prices at the station before purchasing fuel.
7. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by New Zealand law (including the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993):
- Servo shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the App.
- Our total liability for any claim shall not exceed NZD $0 (the App is free).
- We are not liable for any loss or damage resulting from reliance on fuel price information displayed in the App.
8. Data Sources and Attribution
- Fuel prices displayed by Servo are community-contributed structured observations, including direct Servo submissions and authorized community imports. Current-price surfaces show observations no older than thirty days; older observations may remain in price history.
- Station-directory information is maintained from Servo operational reference records and authorized community-contributed records and may contain errors. Some geographic fields were enriched using OpenStreetMap: © OpenStreetMap contributors, ODbL. Users can report incorrect or missing station information from the relevant station page.
- Servo does not use MBIE weekly national price monitoring as its station directory or per-station price source and does not claim that its observations are official government data.
9. Intellectual Property
- The Servo name, logo, and App design are our intellectual property.
- Third-party brand logos (BP, Z Energy, Mobil, etc.) are trademarks of their respective owners and are used for identification purposes only.
10. Termination
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to the App at any time, with or without cause, including for violation of these Terms.
11. Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms. Material changes will be communicated through the App.
12. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of New Zealand. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of New Zealand.
